“Observe, in short, how transient and trivial is all mortal life; yesterday a drop of semen, tomorrow a handful of spice or ashes. Spend, therefore, these fleeting moments of earth as Nature would have you spend them, and then go to your rest with a good grace, as an olive falls in its season, with a blessing for the earth.”
— Marcus Aurelius (Meditations)
The frozen lake didn’t stop the ducks and geese from, well, being ducks and geese. They had their holes to swim a little and they they would walk around from spot to spot. They would sit and rest and preen and primp. Just setting as the morning sun warmed the lake around them causing a steam to come up. Nature just doing what nature does. It kind of struck me as interesting how us advanced humans hide indoors from the elements while nature just rolls with them because well they don’t have a choice. Hey I got my shots and well, screw this I’m going inside its freaking cold out there.
